About Norwich Music Group
Norwich Music
Group was formed, in early 2004, to perform some of the great choral works
in the two Cathedrals and the many fine churches of Norwich. Founded by Julian
Musgrave, Philip Aldred and Francis
Banham, NMG has grown with amazing rapidity, to it's current position.
Over 100 regular members of chorus and orchestra.
The
Choir
The Choir is a mixed chorus - Sopranos, Contraltos, Tenors and Basses - singing
in up to 12 parts, sometimes as a Double Choir, but mostly in four parts.
Professional and semi-professional soloists are used as well as soloists from
within the chorus.
Rehearsals are hard work, exhilarating,
informative and above all….fun!
Humour and anecdotes are used by Philip to always encourage and support the
singers.
Part of its success has been the opportunity for all of the members to choose
how many of the concerts they wish to sing in, allowing people to "take
a breather" when they feel that they need to. Having said this, there
always seems to be a core of over 60 singers who just keep turning up to everything.

Orchestra
The Orchestra is made up of some of the county's
most experienced and skilled musicians, drawn from the ranks of the Academy
of St Thomas, the Norwich Philharmonic Orchestra, the Mozart Orchestra, the
Wymondham Symphony Orchestra and others. More
